Book Design

Bad Cree

Each design element on the book tells a story. These designs resemble Mackenzie’s journey throughout the book. The white trees on the front cover evoke the look of a cage or jail bars, giving the impression that the crow is confined, just as Mackenzie was in her dreams. The black figure in the back cover resembles a crow’s wing, and the white space resembles trees at a low angle. The chapter header corresponds to being free from entrapment and foreshadows Mackenzie’s freedom from her dreams.
